IDF, civil search and rescue units head to Jordan to assist in flood rescue efforts

IDF and civil rescue teams have been dispatched to Jordan after a bus carrying 37 schoolchildren and seven teachers was swept away by flash floods on the Jordanian side of the Dead Sea.

Jordanian media reported at least 14 killed in the incident, The IDF said it had sent helicopters and soldiers from the Air Force’s 669 search and rescue unit following a request from the Jordanian government.  Teams from the Megillot and Gush Etzion search and rescue unit are also heading to Jordan to assist in the search.

IDF reports IDF soldiers searched for the missing in Jordan until the harsh weather made it impossible to do so and the Jordanian authorities called off the search. Our soldiers have returned home safely.
