The 19-yr-old’s family issued the following statement:

“Ash fought like a Trojan for the last 18 months and never once gave up hope of a full and happy life.

Sadly, after becoming critically ill with an infection last Thursday, his illness got the better of him.  He went to a peaceful place this morning with his family by his side.”

Ashley Levi died in Sydney’s Prince of Wales Hospital. His family have asked community members to attend Emanuel Synagogue tomorrow evening at 7 p.m. and requested donations to the hospital’s spinal unity in lieu of flowers.

The accident happened at a Hineni summer camp in January 2009.
