Two fund-raising events have been held at the homes of Steven and Judy Lowy and Lance and Julie Rosenberg, co-hosted by Phil and Viv Green to support the new Hakoah at Sydney’s White City.

The planned cost for the project is $6o million. President Steven Lowy told the second event: $60 million is a huge sum of money but I am pleased to tell you that we are already well advanced with indications from leading and a few major donor families that we believe gets us to approximately or already half way to this figure.”

The new club is being designed to offer sporting, cultural and social facilities similar to community centres around the world.

Sydney at this point does not have one but if all goes to plan the $60 million project will be open for business late 2022 or early 2023.

The potential donors were shown a highly professional video which highlighted the new club’s features.

They also heard from four young entrepreneurs and Gary Samowitz, the project manager, who has travelled overseas to check the facilities in Jewish community centres.
