Greens Senators Lee Rhiannon and Scott Ludlum presented a motion to the Senate asking the government to review Australia’s “counterproductive support” for what they called Israel’s occupation of the Palestine territories.

The motion was not passed. The senators were questioning the military record of former IDF Chief of Staff Benjamin Gantz claiming he led an operation in 2014 which U.N. says killed 2000 Palestinians.

Gantz is currently in Australia on a speaking tour.

President of The Executive Council of Australian Jewry Robert Goot told J-Wire: “The motion moved by Greens Senators Ludlam and Rhiannon demonstrates how naïve and out of touch they are with the realities of life in the Middle East.

They call for an Israeli withdrawal from the West Bank, but not for a cessation by Palestinians of incitement, stabbings, bombings and car-rammings against Israelis, nor for a return to negotiations.

The Greens Senators also call for an end to the blockade of Gaza, but not for an end to the smuggling of weapons, munitions and terrorists into Gaza which is the reason for the blockade, and the reason why it is legal under international law.

If the advice of Senators Ludlam and Rhiannon were heeded, it would almost certainly precipitate a power struggle, if not a civil war between Fatah, Hamas and even more extreme Islamist groups, followed by a further upsurge of terrorist actions against Israelis.  The end result would be dire for Israelis and utterly ruinous for the Palestinians.

As Howard Jacobson once observed, people are seldom more dangerous than when they are overcome with a sense of their own good intentions.”

Today’s so-called “left” has revolution at the core of its agenda: that is, to destroy the capitalist / democratic / liberal order, and to supplant it with a regressive, authoritarian pseudo-“socialist” one.
In this endeavour, it regards jihadism as an important ally of convenience.

No point trying to explain anything to Rhiannon and Ludlum. They are firm in their agenda and their cause has nothing to do with reality, complexity and truth; they are not open to conversation at all. What is it with these kinds of people – these armchair experts with their heads full of false ideology and their hearts full of venom? Such misplaced passion is fuelled by something subterranean methinks, that has nothing in particular to do with the people they champion, it’s called unmitigated hatred of Jews.

When the consequences of naivety and malice are identical then it is wiser and safer to assume malice – especially from someone like the ageing Rhiannon, who in her increasingly complete irrelevance, all she has left to attract attention is her Jew hatred.

  4. Erica Edelman says:

Can someone PLEASE explain to Rhiannon and Ludlum that there is no “chicken and egg” question about the Mid East. It’s always the same with the ignorant folk. They believe that “if Israel stopped what they are doing (???) then all the Arab folk would settle down to peaceful living. Are they deluded?

Further, and here’s the problem. If there was a civil war between Fatah, Hamas and the rest of the terrorists – well, its not hard to work out that ISIS/IS and any other rogue anti-Israel terrorists who are looking for more power, would most certainly clean up.

So now we have a gargantuan (Islamic) power. If the US would join with Israel and other more democratic nations, this gargantuan Islamic power COULD be wiped out quite easily. No more Hamas, Fatah, Palestinian entity etc.

Israel can then revert to the 1922 agreement. Britain is out of the poo. The US is happy. Russia is more than happy.

Perhaps Ludlum and Rhiannon would prefer that.

I very much doubt Lee Rhianon having good intentions
