For over 15 years JewishCare has been helping people with a disability to live as independently as possible in the community. This involves ensuring the appropriate level of support is available for each person depending on their individual circumstances. For over 40 years BBRV has been operating self-care properties for older members of the community.

Henry Wirth Chairman of BBRV said “This is a perfect partnership, we have the expertise in acquiring and maintaining properties for members of the community with specific needs and JewishCare is our community’s largest and most respected provider of services for these people”.

To date BBRV has purchased and will maintain a one bedroom unit in the vicinity of the current BBRV Princess Gardens in Princess Street Rose Bay while JewishCare will provide appropriate clinical services to the individual who will occupy this residence.

Allan Vidor President of JewishCare said “This is great example of collaboration within our community that also demonstrates how we are working creatively to ensure the best outcomes for our clients at the most efficient cost to the community”.

Both BBRV and JewishCare see this initiative as having the potential to be extended in the future depending on the success of this initial undertaking.

Gabrielle Upton Member for Vaucluse said she  had no hesitation in recommending that the NSW Government support this valuable initiative with a Community Building Partnership Program grant of $40,000.

“This initiative provides a template for all community organisations to combine their individual capabilities and resources to help people with special needs live independent lives,” Ms Upton said.
