Launched in Sydney, in the past few months, Ella’s Toy Box was founded on the premise of collecting items for children across New South Wales who are in need of clothing, books, games, and toys.

The organization was created due to Cassy Nathan’s (founder and creator, Ella’s Toy Box) daughter, Ella being hospitalized in Sydney Children’s Hospital and seeing the lack of resources available to Ella as well as other children in the hospital. This led to the birth of Ella’s Toy Box. Since the creation of the Ella Toy Box organization, communities as far as South Africa have received items for those less fortunate.

This year, the New South Wales Board of Jewish Education (NSW BJE) partnered with Ella’s Toy Box. BJE partnered with Ella’s Toy Box to at Rose Bay Public School, and Bellevue Hill Public School.

Hundreds, and hundreds, and hundreds (carloads!) of high-quality items such as clothing, toys, board games, and books were collected to distribute to various charities across New South Wales. Charities included; TheChildren’s Hospital of Sydney, Ronald McDonald House, and Clothesline.

Students skipped through the door and were elated and excited to give their goodies to BJE organizers.  “I’m so excited to give these toys to people who need it more than me” exclaimed a young BJE Extension student.

** BJE inspires the Jewish identity of the NSW Community’s Youth. It is BJE’s aim to provide quality Jewish education to children in state and non-Jewish private school systems across NSW and to foster a positive sense of Jewish identity in our youth leading to them becoming involved and active members of the Jewish community.
