Gillard gets Jerusalem Prize
The Zionist Council of Victoria (ZCV) has announced that the recipient of this year’s 2013 Jerusalem Prize is Julia Gillard, Prime Minister of Australia 2010-2013, in recognition of her outstanding contribution to strengthening Australia’s connection with Israel.

The Jerusalem Prize is proudly awarded by the Zionist Council of Victoria, the Zionist Federation of Australia and the World Zionist Federation to an outstanding individual who supports Israel, Jerusalem and the Zionist Movement. Past Australian recipients have included former Prime Ministers Bob Hawke and John Howard, former Foreign Minister Alexander Downer and The Australian newspaper’s Foreign Editor Greg Sheridan as well as Jewish community stalwart and last year’s recipient Sam Lipski AM.
Ms Gillard will be presented the prize at the ZCV 75th Annual Assembly to be held on November 26, 2013 at which she will also be the keynote speaker.
Maybe I’m coming from a different perspective from you Otto, but what she has done for many now adult children who suffered at the hands of ruthless and deranged adults is ground breaking.
For years, Catholic children have been brutilized by clergy and those who have an allegiance to another dynasty and I’m not referring to God either have ignored their plight.
And do you know what makes it even more sinister?
They drew you into their circle, by engaging reputable professional members of your own community as an aquiesce, if that’s the correct word, which is an insult, to me anyway, if not to you.
I think that it would be only fair and rational for those who reccomend anyone for this prize ( as it should for any other ) to list just a few accomplishments of the recepient, accomplishemnht consistent with the essence of the prize and, in particular its principal generics.
Let us have a short – that’s all it will take, I presume – discussion/analysis about the determining terms : “…strengthening Australia’s connection with Israel.”
Based on the known record, I am not at all persuaded that evidence exist to justify the call.
As a compassionate politically bias gesture toward a departing – not too soon – well below averrage main politician, I can see the decision. Judging by most other receipients, this one devalues the Prize.
