Frydenberg – first ever Jewish Liberal in the House of Representatives

Josh Frydenberg, the newly elected Member of Parliament for the Melbourne seat of Kooyong, is the first ever Jewish Liberal politician to represent his constituency in the House of Representatives.

Frydenberg is a former pupil of Melbourne Jewish dayschools Bialik College and Mt Scopus College who went on to study law at Monash University and later attain a Master of Public Administration at  Harvard in the USA.

He was a senior adviser to former Prime Minister John Howard between 2003 and 2004 following the period from 1999 to 2003 when he was an adviser  and subsequently a senior adviser to the, at that time, Foreign Minister, Alexander Downer.

He told J-Wire: “I am very proud to have the honour of representing the people of Kooyong.”

He will join Labour Jewish MPs Michael Danby and Mark Dreyfus in Parliament.
