In the first Grand Final of 2010, the Maccabi Rockets have defeated the Cheetahs Free Ballers in the NSW Men’s Basketball Division 5 competition.

The game started with Maccabi having trouble scoring with the Cheetahs taking an early 5 point lead. The Rockets fought back strongly throughout the first half to level the score, which then went basket for basket, finishing off at half-time 17-16 in favour of Maccabi. In the second half the Rockets took off at a blistering pace with some excellent fast breaks and drives by brothers Mikey (7 points) and Larry Wagenheim (9 points). The Cheetahs lost their focus after a number of ref calls in favour of Maccabi in a very physical game, scoring only 3 points in the second half. Maccabi maintained their composure with Ricky Clennar (2 points) leading the rebounds. Alex Baroukh (7 points) sealed the game with two superb long-distance 3-pointers for a win 32-19. Other scorers were Gid Huberman (3), David Williams (2) and Brad Nissen (2 points).

Maccabi Men’s Rockets Grand Final winners: (l-r) Coach Daniel Lemish, Gid Huberman, Ricky Clennar, Mikey Wagenheim, Larry Wagenheim, Alex Baroukh, David Williams (front) Brad Nissen.
