Mount Scopus opens in 1949

The Mount Scopus Memorial College Helen Synman Archive Project invites the community to an exhibition of the College’s history through photographs, audio-visual and memorabilia.

The exhibition traces the colourful history of Scopus – Victorian school No. 1490, which opened on 8 February 1949 with 114 students in St Kilda Road Melbourne, and was the first privately funded co-educational Jewish day school in the state.

The exhibition will pay homage to visionary College founders, humble Scopus beginnings and provide access to significant material, documents, memorabilia, photographs and artefacts. A reading room will be open for visitors to view historic footage and to access photo albums and school publications from the 1940s to today.

Exhibition times:           Sunday 8 November 2.00pm – 5.00pm

Monday 9 – Wednesday 11 November 11.00am – 3.00pm

Gandel Campus, Burwood, entry via 87 Station Street Burwood.
