Thousands of people are expected to attend the Festival of Dreams this weekend in Sydney, with all proceeds going to Our Big Kitchen. Over three days, the event celebrates all things spiritual, with a range of exhibitors, workshops and seminars, from psychic readings and meditations  to world-renowned speakers and healers designed to be inspiring, informative and soulful.

Native American Elder, well-known actor, UN spokesman and spiritual master Saginaw Grant, along with Native American actor, model and motivational speaker Rick Mora, are the headline visitors, in Sydney on their Global Unity Tour. Together, they’ll be sharing their insights, traditions, customs, rituals and Ancient Wisdom.

Our Big Kitchen’s George Karounis has been instrumental in developing OBK’s partnership with the Festival. Along with Danny Moss of organic food snacks ‘Danny’s Delights’, Karounis will be selling food  made at OBK.

The organisers of the Festival are greatly supportive of OBK and their ethos of embracing and helping all people in need, irrespective of differences, ties in perfectly with the Festival of Dreams’ celebration of diversity.

Earlier in the week, OBK were honoured to welcome Elder Saginaw Grant, Rick Mora and the Festival team to OBK and show them first hand the work they do. It was here that Rick Mora, for the first time, announced publicly his conversion to Judaism over ten years ago when he married an Israeli woman and spent time living in Israel. Although he divorced nine years ago, this Native American of mixed Apache and Yaqui ethnicity, said “you can’t take the Jew out of me” and shared proudly his Hebrew name, Natanel – ‘gift from G-d’.

OBK were also invited to attend the opening of the Festival, with a ‘Soul Group Hug’ of 100 people from different denominations, as well as a special Welcome to Country by Aboriginal Elders at Mrs Macquarie’s Chair. As a gift, they gave the Native American visitors, on their first trip to Australia, a framed photo of the Australian Light Horse during World War II.

The Festival of Dreams is on from September 11-13 at the Hordern Pavilion, with all proceeds going to OBK.
