The leader of the Queensland Jewish community has voiced his disapproval of a neo-Nazi music festival scheduled to be held in Brisbane in April.

Jason Steinberg, president of the Queensland Jewish Board of Deputies, told J-Wire that  the event had been held last year on the Gold Coast the city and had not been well attended.

He said that moving it to the city might attract  a larger audience and that this type of event is “not acceptable to any decent organisation or to any religious groups.”

Both Brisbane City Council and local police have said nothing can be done to prevent the festival unless the law is broken. The organisers of the Hammered Music Festival have publicised the event on the Internet but the only point of communication is an email address. Faces on the flyer have been blanked out. The location remains unknown.

Federal Race Discrimination Commissioner Dr Helen Szoke told J-Wire: “The theme of this music festival goes against Australia’s multicultural values.
Any gathering that results in espousing hate and racism against any group is abhorrent to our community. There may be recourse for offended parties under the Racial Discrimination Act (RDA) to make a complaint about this event: the RDA makes unlawful acts that offend, insult, humiliate or intimidate another person on the basis of race, colour, national or ethnic origin.”

A spokesperson for Queensland police added: “We are hopeful that the law won’t be broken. The venue is currently not known but in case there is a threat to public safety we  hope to learn where the event will be held. People can hold their beliefs and hold music festivals….as long as they don’t break the law.”

Brisbane City Council said that they cannot control if it is held on private property. A spokesperson said: “The organisers have not been forthcoming with information.”

The president of The Executive Council of Australian Jewry Dr Danny Lamm said: “What a sad reflection on contemporary Australia that the State government of Queensland and the Queensland police say they are powerless to prevent an open air festival celebrating racism and bigotry.   Those who say Australia’s laws against racial vilification are an unwarranted intrusion into free speech should hang their heads in shame.  Those laws are clearly are not tough enough.  The ECAJ has written to the relevant Federal Ministers and the Race Relations Commissioner about this appalling ‘festival of hate’, which seems to have developed into an annual event”.
The event is being organised by the Southern Cross Hammerskins and is expected to attract white supremacists from around the globe.

And how often do we see our communal leaders at various and numerous functions smiling alngside leaders of other communal groups, various government leaders, all making incredibly passionate speaches about fighting racism etc. I have been called all kind of names from intollerant sarcastic to relentless critic of anything that reeks of authority, to a merciless cynic, but I so wish to see the proof of the value of all those close friendships built in the on and behind the scene encounters and witness a few more multicultural and government befriended members voicing their objection to this scandalous neo nazi cvellebrations on the Australian soil.

Anything anti-Jewish, must NOT be tolerated. Genesis 12:3 “I will bless those who bless you and curse those who curse you.” That is God’s Living Word!

  3. With all our anti-discrimination laws which would slam us into the slammer for uttering just a two-word racist slur, here we have an attorney general; no less, that takes a 90degree antithetical turn against all common good. Nazism and islamism are bedfellows just as hitler and the grand mufti of Jerusalem were in their days. The ultimate racists that have given birth to this hatred are the New World Order Elites and these festival organisers are merely puppets that dance to the NWO – globalists strings, whether they are aware of it or not. Racism has its origin written about in Isaiah14:12-16, long before Adam & Eve, a narcissistic being wanting to steal from the Supreme Creator so as to take the worship, that will never happen. Yehushua said that “evil must be”, but woe to him by whom this evil is perpetrated.

Do these neo-nazi people read history or are they just rebellious radicals or demonised attention seekers? Get a life!

  6. Clive says:

Nazi aims – inspired by evil – the cause of untold suffering and death. Ban it for ever

  7. Marj Samuels says:

It should be banned, I’m all for freedom of speech but not when it promotes a hatred so profound you see it mirrored in their eyes.

  8. It’s time we passed a law against promulgation of neo-naziism – a law that WOULD be broken by anyone holding such a festival. When you stop to think that people can have laws enacted to prevent good things just because they don’t like them, what’s to stop someone getting up a petition that such a law be passed.

Notice I said, “someone”. Honestly, I have so much on my plate I couldn’t take it on. But I’d sign it if someone else took it on. There are websites that specialise in making it easy to get up a petition, cost-free.

I found an article which says

“Secondly, both B&H and the Hammerskins have experienced legal difficulties overseas. Thus, B&H is banned not only in Germany (where, as in Austria and a number of other European countries, the open promotion of neo-Nazism is illegal) but also Belgium and Portugal, while the Hammerskins are outlawed in Germany, Portugal and Spain. (The leader of the Portuguese Hammerskins, Mário Machado, is currently serving a seven-year sentence for coercion, robbery, kidnapping and illegal possession of weapons.)”

My question to our politicians is “WHY AREN’T WE DOING SOMETHING TO STOP THEM/IT TOO?

  11. Lynne Newington says:

Let’s hear the voice of the Catholic Church up there whether publicly or from the pulpit. With all the guffs made by more than one Vatican cleric.

  12. If enough people of goodwill stand up against this hideous festival, we can stop it. Apparently, there’s already a counter-festival being organised by anti-Nazi/anti-racist/anti-Fascist groups. As Dr Szoke said, the theme of music festival does go against Australia’s multicultural values. It’s absolutely disgraceful.
