Sydney’s Sir Moses Montefiore Jewish Home Randwick has hosted a visit from the Federal Minister for Aged Care and Minister Indigenous Health Ken Wyatt.

Together with Montefiore President David Freeman and CEO Robert Orie, Minister Wyatt toured the Randwick Campus, taking in the rooms and grounds, learning about Montefiore’s allied health, research and leisure programs, and meeting with residents.

“As Deputy Chair of industry peak body Leading Age Services Australia, I met with Minister Wyatt in Canberra earlier this month,” said Mr Orie. “I am delighted that he was able to take up the invitation to see what we do here at Montefiore.”

“The community that lives within an aged care facility makes it what it is,” said Minister Wyatt.

He added: “When I listen to the voices here, it’s like listening to running water. It’s consistent, it’s vibrant and it gives a sense of life, which is so important.”

Minister Wyatt was also impressed by the physical environment and atmosphere at Montefiore Randwick: “Outside, the courtyards offer both peace and the opportunity to engage with others. To me that’s what makes the essence of the community here, the connectedness. There’s a beautiful feeling here.”

“I’m proud that we were able to offer the minister an overview of what we do here at Montefiore, our Philosophy of Living and all the services that make us an industry benchmark for residential aged care,” said Mr Freeman.
