Anton Block, the president of The Executive Council of Australian Jewry told J-Wire: “The Australian Jewish community enjoys good relations with political figures across the major parties and across the different factions within those parties.   Accordingly, we will be happy to work with the new Prime Minister, Scott Morrison, in pursuing the key issues for our community, namely obtaining Federal government funding assistance towards the costs of communal security and maintaining bipartisan support for Israel.  The ECAJ will be writing to Scott Morrison and the new Deputy Liberal leader Josh Frydenberg to wish them well in their new roles, and will also write to the outgoing Prime Minister, Malcolm Turnbull, to express the Jewish community’s deep appreciation to him for his service and his strong and consistent friendship to the Australian Jewish community and the State of Israel.

During his tenure as the Federal Member for Wentworth and as Prime Minister, Malcolm Turnbull exhibited a rare warmth and familiarity with the Australian Jewish community. His lifelong friendships with members of our community ensured that he felt at home at Jewish communal events where he was always warmly welcomed. He was

The president of the Zionist Federation of Australia Dr Danny Lamm added: “On behalf of the entire Zionist community of Australia, I would like to thank Mr. Turnbull for everything he has done for our country. In particular, his support for the Jewish community and his close friendship with Israel which was evident the generous welcome he gave Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu throughout his visit to Australia last year. It has been a pleasure and privilege to have Mr Turnbull’s participation in many communal functions over the years, including as a keynote speaker at the ZFA Plenary in 2015 and welcoming PM Netanyahu to Central Shule, and we wish him all the very best in his future endeavours.”

Danny Lamm  also sent congratulations to Scott Morrison and Josh Frydenberg and wished them both best of luck in their new roles as Prime Minister and Deputy Leader of the Liberal Party respectively.

From The Australia/Israel and Jewish Affairs Council: “The Australia/Israel and Jewish Affairs Council (AIJAC) today extended its sincere congratulations to newly elected Prime Minister and Liberal party leader Scott Morrison and deputy leader Josh Frydenberg.

AIJAC also conveyed its deep gratitude and appreciation to Malcolm Turnbull and Julie Bishop for their record of productive achievements and principled service to our nation as prime minister and deputy party leader, respectively.

Mark Leibler, AIJAC’s National Chairman, said, “Malcolm Turnbull has served Australia with great distinction. It was an honour and privilege to work with him on a range of issues in the interests of Australia.

In particular, his support for Israel and Middle East reconciliation, and genuine  concern for the welfare of the Jewish community, has been deeply appreciated,” Leibler continued.

“Further, Julie Bishop has long distinguished herself as deputy leader, and we should all be very thankful for her tireless efforts in that important role,” he added.

“I have full confidence the new leadership team will continue to make an outstanding contribution nationally and globally.”

AIJAC Executive Director Dr Colin Rubenstein said, “Our relationships with Scott Morrison and Josh Frydenberg are warm, productive and longstanding and AIJAC feels confident that they will continue to provide principled and effective leadership for Australia.”

“Our political leaders have extensive responsibilities, particularly in these times of considerable national and international challenges. AIJAC wishes them every success in formulating and delivering policies which will bring the best possible outcomes, nationally and internationally, for the people of Australia,” Dr Rubenstein concluded.

Dutton is gone. perhaps we will get a better view of kiwis in Australia from Josh and Scott. Your past liberal leadership has treated us like 4th rate non citizens. If you continue to do that you will damage the ANZAC relationship on the battle field and in joint operations such as Taji Iraq. We may simly decline to serve with you.
