In FLOOD, Aaron stars as one of six young people who embark on a camping trip into outback Australia. Themes of unconscious racial bias and the treatment of indigenous Australians will be explored in the play through the lens of a naïve younger generation.

As well as being actively involved in the Sydney drama scene, Aaron’s family played a leading role in the establishment of Sydney’s Jewish community. His great-grandfather, Otto Lucas, immigrated to Sydney from Germany. With a group of other Liberal Jews, Otto was a founding member of the Temple Emanuel in Woollahra. Aaron’s grandfather, Frank, was the first person to have a Bar Mitzvah at the temple. Following in his father’s footsteps, Frank left an enduring mark on Sydney’s Jewish community, by founding the North Shore Temple Emanuel in Chatswood with Aaron’s great uncle, Leo Port. Aaron and his father, Tony, had their Bar Mitzvahs at this synagogue.

Aaron grew up on Sydney’s Northern Beaches in Clontarf, learnt to surf at Manly Beach and Curl Curl and worked his first job in Manly Corso. The family experienced a huge loss in 2011 when Aaron’s father, Tony Lucas, passed away from brain cancer. In memory of their father, Aaron’s sister, Bec Lucas, began the Beach Walk for Brain Cancer. At this annual event, thousands embark on a scenic walk from Manly to Curl Curl, raising awareness and funds for new treatments in brain cancer.

Aaron graduated from Shore School in 2012. He credits much of his acting career to his high school years: “I still, to this day, think that the reason I am pursuing a career as an actor is because of the Shore School Drama department and the teachers that taught me… I made a choice in year 10 to follow my heart and study both Drama and Visual Art as my two electives, and if it wasn’t for that choice I don’t think I’d be in the career that I am.”

FLOOD will be showing from November 8th to 19th, 2016.
