The Emanuel School Ultimate Frisbee team, the current Eastern Suburbs Champions, have qualified for the NSW Ultimate Frisbee Championships.

This feat is made all the more exceptional since the team, comprising 10 High School students, have only been training for one term.

James Rutner and Joseph Harris, co-captains of the Emanuel School Ultimate Frisbee Team said, “Ultimate Frisbee is a great team game and is a unique, alternative sport that runs on different skills than the generic sports. We were inspired by the footage of international players and decided try it.”

Emanuel School teacher and Ultimate Frisbee Team coach, John Drake, is proud of his team, “The students are so committed to the sport. I find their excitement and obvious enjoyment infectious. We are so proud of their achievements, particularly since they have been an organised team for such a short time.”

Ultimate Frisbee is a relatively new sport in Australia. Although similar to American football, the sport is non-contact and uses a Frisbee instead of a ball.
