The discovery in the German city of Munich is reported to include works by Matisse, Picasso and Chagall. They were found in the home of an 80-yr-old man whose father had been an art dealer. The man was the subject of a tax evasion investigation and the works were found when a warrant was issued to search his home.

The Germans are reported to have looted around  200,000 pieces of artwork but this discovery focuses mainly on modern art.

The artwork has been valued at $1.4 billion.

Any member of the community who believes they may have a claim to one of the 1500 pieces recovered by the authority should contact the ECAJ by emailing art discovery@jwire.com.au
