President of The Executive Council of Australian Jewry Robert Goot made reference to Foreign Minister Bob Carr  in Julia Gillard’s former Labor Australian government.

Mr Carr has gone on record as to why he is supporting the Palestinian cause and singling out only “liberal Jews” as being acceptable to him.

The presidents of the Queensland, ACT, South Australia, Western Australian and New South Wales communities met at Shalom College in Sydney.

In discussing current Australian Labor Party policy, Goot stated: “The erosion in support for Israel within the Australian Labor Party, especially in New South Wales and QLD, has lead to a weakening of the cross-party consensus on Israel that has been a feature of Australian politics since at least the mid-1950’s. The ECAJ is working closely with the NSW Jewish Board of Deputies in particular and the Jewish community’s many friends within the ALP, to address this issue especially in the context of the national conference of the ALP to be held in 2015, where we anticipate a move led by Bob Carr to change the policy. His latest remarks reported in “The Australian” yesterday, will undoubtedly attract support and demonstrate yet again the impact on some of our friends of the settlement policy, the attitude of some of the settlers and their political supporters, which whatever their motivation, is seen to undermine support for the 2 state solution and further isolates Israel.”

Turning his attention to media, Goot said: “Media bias against Israel, and the steady mainstreaming of antisemitism that it produces, have for a long time been vexed issues for our community.   These issues came to a head during the year in several notorious instances. The ECAJ has held productive meetings with significant national media organisations over the last month. For the first time in many years we are seeing signs of real engagement with our community by parts of the media that have long been hostile; admissions of bias instead of denial; and genuine disturbance at the implicit antisemitism in some of the coverage and the overt antisemitism it has provoked and legitimated. Sincere attempts are being made to redress these problems. Although it is too early to draw firm conclusions, it appears that our interventions are having positive effects. We will, however, continue to monitor and where necessary react on issues of balance, fairness and accuracy in media reporting.”

The meeting continued with reports by all States. Tasmania was not represented.

The guest speaker was former member of parliament Peter Baldwin.

I would be very surprised if the failed ex-Foreign Minister whom you refer to, is not making a documentary on behalf of his terrorist buddies for Al Jazeera.

Hey, eeeeeeesyyyyyy Mr. President !!!! Your statement is shaking the foundations of the Labor friends of palestine – aka Bob Carr contingent –
This is not a statement, it’s a political TSUNAMI.
I, for one, am lost for words, if I may say so.
Robert mate, do you mind if I put you on my CV as me MAIN: inspiration/tutor/spiritual pillar and promise that from now on I will speak and write ONLY with a Kiwi accint. What more can a bloke do for his rhetorical idol !
I expected also a mention about us protecting our muslim brethern, but young and multicultured Jeremy Spinak has taken care of it and he deserves a hearty “mabruk”; they love our Jeremy in downtown Lakemba and have created a special wrap with cheese and spinak with a dash of hydrochloric phosphate ( good for enlarged prostate ).
