Eat kosher before seeing Asher Lev
The Eternity Playhouse Theatre in Sydney’s Darlinghurst will offer high-end Kosher dining during the run of the award-winning play ‘My Name is Asher Lev’ in May.
The restaurant will be operated byTwo Trout chefs Lockie Clifford and Theo Hlorotiris, working with the NSW Kashrut Authority, have created a stylish kosher culinary experience to complement the highly-anticipated production.
Many in the Jewish community eat only kosher food but there are only a handful of kosher eateries, all located Bondi, Dover Heights and Rose Bay.
“A kosher restaurant at the theatre will offer our audience the experience of enjoying both dinner and an award-winning play – an experience many people take for granted but, for kosher consumers, is a huge boon”, producer Michael Misrachi enthused.
There will also be snack foods available.
“The menu is designed to offer a point of interest on the plate using fresh seasonal produce, quality cuts of meat, and market fresh fish. We hope to be able to take you on a mini food journey whilst dining with us,” said chef Lockie Clifford.
The restaurant will offer a pre-performance seating for theatre ticket-holders, as well as a second seating for diners seeking a unique kosher culinary experience who may not have purchased tickets to that day’s performance.
This continues a series of successful kosher pop up restaurants Encounters@Shalom has organised, most recently at One Hat award-winning restaurant Kepos & Co, which sold out in less than 24 hours.
Organisers expect both a sold-out season of the play and a fully-booked restaurant.
MY NAME IS ASHER LEV, by Aaron Posner, is based on the novel by Chaim Potok and premieres in Sydney after an award-winning Off-Broadway season. It plays from 8 to 29 May 2016 at the Eternity Playhouse, 39 Burton Street, Darlinghurst. Ticket prices range from $34 to $46.
