Sydney’s Emanuel School’s annual careers event E-Zone attended by Years 11 and 12 students, showcased a variety of careers and career paths.

Justin Doobov (Class of 1990), Financial Advisor; Genevieve Goldman, Head Madricha; Sam Weiss (Class of 2012), University Student and composer; Gabriel Wolf, Head Madrich and Carla Frankel (Class of 2010), Engineer

E-Zone provided the students with the opportunity to ask current professionals about working in their chosen careers.

Unlike many other careers events, all  E-Zone presenters were Emanuel alumni who have excelled in their professions. The Q&A-style event focused on four key areas of interest – STEM; Arts, Humanities and Law; Commerce and Finance; and Media and Creative Industries.

Romy Berson, Year 11, found the day to be a productive learning experience: “Hearing opinions from the panelists allowed me to gain a better understanding of specific courses I’m interested in from someone who’s studied it first-hand.”

Liron Smith, Year 11, wisely commented: “Today is all about your EQ not your IQ!”

Jerome Bowman, Class of 2005, an entrepreneur, was glad to be included as a speaker. “What a great approach to alternative vs traditional career path information. This is an opportunity to give real-world advice on career paths and choices, and provide students with a forum to see where some Emanuel past students end up and ask questions about all that.”

Anne Hastings, Emanuel School Principal, was delighted to hear the students’ enthusiastic questions and the alumni presenters’ passionate messages. “Now in its fourth year and getting bigger and better every year, I believe that through the E-Zone platform, our students gain a deeper understanding of the issues relating to their future career paths and the many varied ways of finding a career that will inspire them. Hearing from past students who have experienced the same doubts and asked the same questions in the past is invaluable.
