Robert Simons guided the Australian Friends of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem through its last 26 years as its president, a role from which he retired recently has been conferred with an honorary doctorate by the university in Jerusalem.

With his wife Anita joining him in Israel, Sydney-based Robert was presented with his degree in a grand ceremony.

He told J-Wire: “It was a most exhilarating and exciting experience to have received from the President of the University last evening in front of an audience of more than a thousand the Honorable Doctorate scroll and medallion in recognition of 26 years as federal president of the Australian Friends of Hebrew University.”

The ceremony was part of major event attended by Hebrew University’s supporters across the glob to celebrate the 100th anniversary of its foundation.
