Why are so many good resolutions never translated into practice?

Why do so many people have good intentions but don’t follow through? Why are we inspired to change but can lose the excitement as fast as it came?
There are many answers. One of them is taught by our sages in the Ethics of our Fathers. It states: “Do not say when I am free I will study, for perhaps you will not become free”. Good decisions need to be acted upon immediately.

There was a study conducted involving teachers who attend teacher training in-services and become excited by the great ideas that they learn. The research demonstrated that new ideas that are not tried within forty eight hours never get used. Intellectual theories or emotional feelings that do not have an immediate link to the world of behavior dissipate quickly.

There is someone I know that loves BINA and all of its projects. Every time I meet him he says: “You have such a great program with so much variety. One day I am going to attend one of your Shiurim. I just need to get my life in order and make some time for education.” So far I still haven’t seen him.

So the next time you are inspired to grow or make progress do something immediately. And to my friend who likes BINA, there is a full program. Don’t put it off any longer. Choose something you like and DO IT NOW!
