Around 150 guests attended the panel discussion dealing with Marriage Equality in Australia at NCJWA NSW.
Moderator: Dr Justin Koonin; Panel: Justice Stephen Rothman, Professor Kerryn Phelps, Tiernan Brady & Lauren Reinhardt, organised by NCJWA NSW Social Justice Chair Nadene Alhadeff.
The word Marriage Equality is a little deceiving in my opinion…..why not say it as it really is….same sex marriage and be done with it and be proud.
Aside from same-sex attracted people, people who do not identify exclusively as male or female are denied the right to marry. The term same-sex marriage does not include those people. Hence the need for a broader and more representative term, describing the removal of gender from the Marriage Act.
Oops. did I miss something again??? Didn’t God say that it was an abomination??? Oh well, if the Pope can change Gods word why not everyone else! With the exception of me I definitely don’t want God’s job, He knows what He’s doing cause the rest of the world is
I’m sure your God didn’t comment on civil marriage in Australia, but if so, please point me at the words.
And he has no favourites either…even blood doesn’t count. http://www.theage.com.au/articles/2004/01/11/1073769452833.html

Love will always win out over bitterness, bigotry and intolerance.
Rabbi I am in full agreement with you. You forgot to mention child bride marriages, so frowned upon by society. Those participating in that form of marriage, that are jailed now, will also want equality in marriage too.
Well dont to the seven “liberal” minded federal Liberal parliamentarians and some others who are silent for the moment who supported a gay marriage vote in federal parliament.
I recall when gay meant happy and even a girls name…..So many handles these day’s when in reality it’s simply called same sex what’s the problem?
In civil marriages the specific word equality can already be noted in their ceremony and with the legality by change of law that’a all that matters.

I believe they make a decision at sometime in their lives and I’ll leave the discussion there out of respect.
Who makes a decision about what?
