Winner of the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film in 2002, this film is based on a true story.

Walter and Jettel Redlich and their five-year-old daughter, Regina are a Jewish family who have fled Nazi Germany and their previously comfortable existence for a remote farm in Kenya. Their new life in Africa proves a difficult change, except for Regina, who finds a friend in Owuor the cook, settles in immediately and feels an affinity with the place.
