Highly entertaining and colourful, Crazy Rich Asiansis an Asian-American romantic comedy which follows Rachel (Constance Wu), a smart and beautiful NYU economics professor who accompanies her boyfriend to Singapore for his best friend’s wedding, and discovers that her boyfriend comes from an extremely wealthy family…

The movie is a mix of travel, a controlling family who doesn’t think the girlfriend is enough, family vs love and finding one’s self… Despite this sounding a tad cliche, it came beautifully to life on film. I’m a die hard for cutesy romantic comedies, and I thoroughly enjoyed it all. The depiction of Singapore’s elite was particularly enticing – like a Gatsby or Gossip Girl party, but Singaporean style.

A definite stand out was the comedic performance of Awkwafina and Nico Santos, with both myself and the rest of the theatre laughing out loud throughout.

Absolutely everything about the setting was gorgeous, featuring great acting, and great moments. In all, if you’re a fan of romantic comedies, this is definitely a good one.
