Manny Waks wrote to Oguz Ozge:  “On behalf of the Capital Jewish Forum I would like to express my sincere condolences on the devastating impact of the natural disaster currently unfolding in Turkey. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families, and with the people of Turkey.

I was particularly pleased to read reports that despite existing tensions between Israel and Turkey, Israel has offered humanitarian assistance, which has so far been declined by Turkey, apparently not due to any political considerations. Turkey reportedly has also declined assistance from dozens of other countries.

I look forward to celebrating Turkey’s Republic Day with you at the Embassy this coming Friday in what will no doubt be a subdued affair.”
