Cisco names Israeli school best in European region

The Cisco Networking Academy has awarded Boys Town Jerusalem the Above and Beyond Award for 2019.

The academy has more than a thousand schools in over 180 countries.

Boys Town Jerusalem was noted for the school’s positive community impact, innovation, and leadership. Established 20 years ago as the first Cisco Networking Academy in the Middle East, Boys Town Jerusalem has been a pioneer for the networking and communication giant giving students the skills to keep pace with constantly changing technical advances.

Founded in 1948 for orphaned boys from the Holocaust, Boys Town Jerusalem is now home to more than 960 boys from various backgrounds. Many of the students come from homes where poverty is the norm and strife is common. Known for its intensive High School curriculum, Boys Town Jerusalem’s Cisco Academy has paved the way for hundreds of Boys Town graduates to obtain leading positions in the IDF and hi-tech sector.

As part of an initiative to connect Australians with Israel, Boys Town Jerusalem has started a new project called the “Australian Homeroom”. Supporters can personally connect with students and follow them from seventh grade through graduation.
