The NSW Jewish Board of Deputies has condemned an incident at Al-Faisal College which saw young children take cover beneath their desks while a knife-wielding intruder allegedly threatened staff and students on the College campus.

A statement released by NSWJBD reads:  “It is unconscionable that any children should be terrorised for any reason, least of all because of the faith or culture to which they belong.

Al-Faisal College is an active member of the NSW Jewish Board of Deputies’ school harmony program “Respect, Understanding, Acceptance”, which annually brings together about 1000 students in a constructive spirit of bridge-building and social harmony, with a strong anti-racism message. The College works hard to combat racism in NSW.

The NSW Jewish Board of Deputies condemns all racism and bigotry against any group. There is no room for hatred in our society and we stand with all well-meaning Australians in condemning the hatred and intolerance evident in this instance.”

The Al-Feisal College is located in the south-eastern Sydney suburb of Minto. A man entered the grounds of school wielding a knife and engaging in threatening behaviour.
