The Year 7 B’nei Mitzvah program at Melbourne’s Bialik College is a year-long journey of self-awareness and learning that culminates in a special ceremony.

The individual ceremonies held recently were attended by friends and family, who were treated to a remarkable presentation by the students. The theme for B’nei Mitzvah 2015 is Shema – to hear. The presentation was followed by an enjoyable supper and a viewing of the Creative Responses to the Roots Project.

The Roots Project is a major part of the B’nei Mitzvah journey and students are required to submit a creative response that reflects their family history and Jewish heritage. This year, as with previous years, the responses have been innovative and of an incredibly high standard.  With the ceremonies completed, the Year 7 students are looking forward to the Tikkun Olam (Repairing the World) component of their B’nei Mitzvah program.
