Nefesh Mountain

On the weekend of Shir Madness, Emanuel Synagogue will be having special services led by New York band Nefesh Mountain. Doni Zasloff and Eric Lindberg together with their band are pioneers of a transcendent new genre – combining the apparently disparate worlds of American Appalachian music and Jewish traditions.

Shabbat Live – October 5th from 6:15pm

On Friday night, Emanuel’s Shabbat Live service led by Rabbi Jacqueline Ninio will be transformed by a special service featuring Doni Zasloff and Eric Lindberg together with Cantor George Mordecai.

Jewish Renewal Shabbat – October 6th from 10:00am followed by pot luck lunch.

This service, lead by Rabbi Dr Orna Triguboff is devoted to reinvigorating modern Judaism with Kabbalistic and musical practices. Nefesh Mountain will be joining Rabbi Triguboff for a unique, Shabbat morning service.

Doni Zasloff, a multi-award winning singer and songwriter and a welcome presence on stage throughout the US, is regarded as one of the most influential Jewish Performers in the twenty-first century. Along with her husband Eric Lindberg, a graduate with honours from Mason Gross School of the Arts with a degree in Jazz performance, Doni and Eric bring their multi-faceted talents directly to Nefesh Mountain.

Their debut album, the self-titled “Nefesh Mountain” was released in 2016 to immediate critical acclaim. For their second album “Beneath The Open Sky” Doni and Eric teamed up with Bluegrass luminaries including Sam Bush and Jerry Douglas as well as band members Alan Grubner and Tim Kiah to delve even deeper into the two beautiful realms of bluegrass music and Jewish culture.
