JEMs (Jewish Education Matters) has hosted its largest ever Shabbat with over 400 people attending in what could be Sydney’s largest Shabbat dinner ever.

Getting ready for dinner with 400

The beauty of the dinner was that every bit of food was made from scratch by the parents and teen volunteers and the meal was completely run and led by the children. It is one of those special times a year that JEMs comes together as a community.

“Shabbos on Friday evening was absolutely beautiful, it brings a tear to my eye…We are all very blessed to be a part” said Natalie Simon a JEMs parent. “Everyone had a good time and enjoyed themselves” said Claire Brandenburger, another JEMs parent.

The Shabbat dinner also marked the first anniversary of JEMs which was launched in May 2011 and has experienced 250% growth since with a current enrolment of 200 children, 80 teen volunteers, Bar / Bat Mitzvah programs, camps etc.
