Betar Says Sorry

Victoria’s Betar has apologised for an analogy published in their April newsletter in which Israel in the 1940s is described as flower whose growth was threatened by “Arab weeds”.

Haderech was distributed to a few hundred Victorian Betar members in April but the analogy found its way to Facebook.

Daniel Mirmilstein, the Federal Director of Betar Australia Inc has sent a circular to Haderech subscribers in which he clearly states “Betar staunchly opposes racism and injustice in all their forms.”

J-Wire understands that the writer of the article “Israel: The Desert Flower” is in their mid-teens.  Mirmilstein concedes that it should have been screened more thoroughly and the offending words edited out.

Mirmilstein says in his statement says that although the phrase was intended to apply to political regimes of the 1940s it is inappropriate. The writer is “a junior leader who would never knowingly insult the Arab people”.

His statement also said that Betar’s “ideology states clearly that all people are to be treated with universal respect.” Betar will drive this point home in their next newsletter “in an attempt to rectify this mistake”.

Betar apologised for any offence this article may have caused.

He told J-Wire: “We have learned a lesson and will be much more careful in screening what is written.”

The mandate was a legal trickery to appease the US and seek reparations from the AXis powers. The Palestinians continued to struggle against the mandate with campaign including no-tax which were brutally suppressed by the British with the help of the special night squads and Jewish forces trained by Orde Charles Windgate. The deputy commnaders of the SNS groups were officers from the Jewish Agency.

    Hello david Singer

Art 80 UN Charter ” Except as may be agreed upon in individual trusteeship agreements, made in Artciles 77,79 and 81, placing each teritory under trusteeship system and until such agreements have been concluded, noting in thiis chapter should be construed in or of itself to alter any manner of the rights whatsoever of any states or any people or the terms of existing instruments to which members of the UN may be separately parties.”

Endorsement of house demolitions, military rule, exclusive settlements and roads!

    To hasbaracentral

Israel’s borders with its neighbours Egypt and Jordan are laid down and agreed in the peace treaties signed with Egypt in 1979 and with Jordan in 1993.

Sovereignty in the West Bank and Gaza occupied by Jordan and Egypt respectively in 1948 (as defined by the 1949 armistice lines) remains undetermined.

The right of Jews to live in the West Bank and Gaza is legally sanctioned by article 6 of the Mandate for Palestine and article 80 of the UN Charter.

Sprouting propaganda and ignoring cold hard facts only undermines your credibility.

By the way – I take it you have provided JWire with a real email address and proof of your identity to allow your posts to be published.

Why do you therefore continue to hide behind a nom-de-plume? Come on out from under the rock and enjoy the sunshine.

Wow Rita! It was Betar which was doing the apologising after being caught out. And fighting for its right to exists by colonising the West Bank and blockading Gaza ! Where incidentally are Israel’s borders for it to exist ?

Compared to what I see in Insults and Threats online and even in print against Israel and the Jewish people, this little metaphor pales into nearly “quaint”. I am with the author of “Israel, Reclaiming the Narrative” by Barry Shaw (a must-read for anyone interested in the Israel Narrative which does not get much of a run these days) who writes: “Why should my country apologise for fighting for its right to exist?”. I actually would go further and pose the rhetorical question: “Why is Israel always apologising, even for the smallest faux pas, why are you worried about stepping on their toes while they’re planning to stomp you out”.
