In the wake of the protest during the recent lecture by Colonel Richard Kemp resulting in an investigation under way at the behest of the University of Sydney, university staff have been invited to a forum entitled “Why Boycotting Israel isn’t Anti-Semitic”.

CEO of The New South Wales Jewish Board of Deputies Vic Alhadeff commented: “This event is the equivalent of the BDS movement saying ‘some of my best friends are Jewish’.

With its desperate attempt to deny the movement’s antisemitic foundations, it demonstrates why the BDS campaign has been so heavily discredited in this country.”

  1. Henry Herzog says:

I won’t be able to attend this forum, but a couple of questions I would like to ask the panel would be, how many Syrian civilians have been killed by the Syrians and what actions are they taking against Syria? And why is only Israel being targeted for this treatment? One more; what are they doing about the Palestinian in the refugee camp in Yarmouk who are being slaughtered by ISIL?

  2. Efrem Manassey says:

The BDS movement has (thankfully) failed worldwide. It’s aim, and logical consequence, would be to strip Israel of its livelihood while branding her as a pariah state. In practical terms this would enable the destruction of Israel. Since Israel is mainly Jewish in make up the BDS would cause great suffering to Jewish people there. So it is anti-Semitic in its proposed effect and purpose – to say the least.
So many people worldwide do not support the failed BDS movement because it completely ignores Israel’s humanity (what is good about Israel and her people) while remaining silent about the fundamentalist/terrorist forces that attack Israel. How many Hamas flying bombs will it take, before BDS supporters admit that Israel has a right to defend herself?

    • Leon Poddebsky says:

Mr Manassey is right: Israel’s net contribution to the welfare and progress of humanity is positive. The same cannot be said of Israel’s enemies.

    • Henry Herzog says:

Efrem, It’s not a matter of the BDS mob admitting that Israel has a right to defend itself, it’s a matter of them admitting that Israel has a right to exist; which they don’t.

  3. Paul Winter says:

The BDS movement is not anti-Semitic in the same way that the Nazis were not against Jews on the basis of religion, but on the matter of race.

In the same way that the Nazis ignored or denied Jewish contributions to humanity, especially German culture, the BDS movement denies Israeli humanity in general and, particularly, in a region where the most depraved barbarity is the norm.

    • Leon Poddebsky says:

BDS is antisemitic “in the way” that they discriminate against the Jewish People on the basis of nationality / ethnicity/ religion.

  4. Erica Edelman says:

Let these BDS supporters expose themselves to ridicule. With a bit of luck it will all end badly and the university board will have to sack the ratbags who even dreamt this up. What is it THEY aren’t getting? Anti-Israel = Anti-Jewish = Anti Semitic. Period. Not only will your BDS campaign fail – you will live to regret the shame supporting it brings upon you.

  5. Leon Poddebsky says:

The aim of BDS is to deprive the Jewish nation of its right to national self-determination.
The methods of BDS are deception, mendacity, incitement, advocacy of discrimination and segregation.
The allies of BDS are explicitly genocidal Hamas as well as aggressive disingenuous “Palestinian” ‘Authority / Fatah / PLO.
Among its supporters are self-loving antisemites “of Jewish background.”
Conclusion: call it whatever you like, but it’s the enemy.

    • Malvina Malinek says:

      Anti-Semitism, is racism against Jews.
BDS is racism against Jews. Anti-Zionism is Racism against Jews. Holocaust denial is racism against Jews.
Anti-Israel is being an enemy of the State and in collusion with the enemies at war with the State of Israel.

All who take part in the above movements are racists,- not only against Jews but against all who are successful minorities within States, e.g. in Australia and in the nation State of the world,- the only Jewish State in the world. They are jealous,- pure and simple.

      • Leon Poddebsky says:

        Yes; I agree.
That’s why I pointed out that BDS discriminates against the Jewish people and wants to segregate us.
