UN Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon has sent a letter to Ninth President Shimon Peres wishing him a speedy recovery and a long life.

In the letter, Ban Ki-moon referred to his unique connection with President Peres.

As part of his personal letter, Ban Ki-moon wished to pass on his well wishes to President Peres and his family, writing:

“In this challenging hour, please know that you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers, as I wish you strength and fortitude for a full recovery.”

The UN Secretary-General also noted his great respect for the Ninth President and the strong friendship between them, adding: “I have been a steadfast admirer of your exceptional stamina and energy over the years and of your ability to maintain an active life into your tenth decade.

In your dedicated service to the land and people of Israel, you remain a model of visionary statesmanship. I recall our encounters with great fondness and remain grateful for the wisdom and advice you have shared on those occasions. Your tireless work to bring peace between Israelis and Palestinians has been an inspiration for many people.” 

Update from the Office of the Ninth President Shimon Peres and the Shiba Medical Centre:
“There is no change in the health status of Ninth President Peres. His medical team is continuing treatment based on his situation, and tomorrow he will undergo an additional CT Scan. His medical team will decide on further treatment based on the results of the CT.”
