The Better Practice Awards recognise aged care facilities that excel at what they do. They are strong examples of innovation and excellent care of older Australians.

“Once again Montefiore is establishing itself as a leader in aged care,” said Montefiore CEO, Robert Orie.  “The integration of the Nurse Practitioner role offers a vital collaborative link between the Nurse Practitioner and General Practitioner.  Nurse Practitioners prescribe medications, diagnose and treat and manage acute illnesses, refer residents to other professionals and administer vaccinations.  Providing more person centred care, Montefiore’s Nurse Practitioner program is meeting the ever growing demand of the residents’ increased health care needs.  Using innovation we are promoting excellence in on-site health care,” he added.

A judge described the program as, “A genuine case of leading innovation.  Slick, professional … delivering strong results … very impressive.”

The recent award adds to a long list of awards for Montefiore including the Best Product to Support Ageing in Place Award at the 2014 Asia Pacific Eldercare Innovation Awards, six Better Practice Awards and the Property Council of Australia Award for innovation in design for the internationally recognised Randwick Campus.

The Award winners were announced at the Australian Aged Care Quality Agency’s Better Practice annual conference in Sydney on Thursday, 27 August.

Orie also acknowledged Montefiore staff members who spoke at the conference. “We are proud of our strong line-up of presenters who showcased Montefiore’s innovative approach to aged care.   Montefiore has a tradition of excellence in care and we strive to enhance the quality of life of our residents in everything we do.”
