Australian Council for Christians and Jews Multi-Faith Israel Encounter
Jews Christians and Muslims will explore Israel together while learning about the common roots of their respective faiths during a multi-faith study tour later this year.
A spokesperson of the Council of Christians and Jews Vic Inc said: “As the proposed tour coincides with the 100th anniversary of the Australian Light Horse Battle in Beersheba we have been approached to include some descendants of the Aboriginal soldiers who fought along side the Australian cavalry in 1917.”
Last night Chair of the CCJV Philip Bliss met with Uncle Boydie the 88-year-old grandson of William Cooper the Aboriginal leader who lead the first to protest against the German Nazi Government over their treatment of Jews on Krystalnacht 1938.
Uncle Boydie would like to join the tour to see more of Israel after his trip to Yad Vashem a few years ago, where a plaque was unveiled commemorating the work of his grandfather.
- Our goal is to promote understanding and tolerance amongst Muslims, Christians, and Jews.
- The program will enable participants to gain respect for and knowledge of both their own and others’ religions and beliefs while exploring Israel.
- Get an up close and unfiltered view of Israel in all its diversity and vibrance.
The tour is scheduled from October 24 to November 3.
