Olga Horak remains an active worker at the Sydney Jewish Museum where she acts both as a guide and in the office of the survivors’ association. She too J-Wire: History should be preserved and not forgotten. I am very humbled and very honoured to be receiving this award but I don’t know why.” She has worked at the museum since its inception 22 years ago. She said that she was very proud go her grandson Antony who is working towards the preservation of the memories of the Holocaust. Olga added: “My grandson did his Masters in English and his thesis was on the Holocaust and genocide.” She said that there are few survivors left who can talk about what happened during the war.

Bruce Waxman is both proud and knowledgeable of his Jewish heritage. He told J-Wire: “My great grandfather headed both the Chevra Kadisha and the War Memorial in Melbourne and my grandfather was involved both  Mt Scopus and VAJEX. My father was a bomber pilot in WWII and I am named after two of his colleagues who were both shot down and killed. I used to dream of being a flying doctor . This award has made me very proud and certainly reflects on the probono work I and  other surgeons do to maintain a high level of medical attention.”
