Aussie soccer star playing in Israel

Australian international striker Nikita Rukavytsya  has signed and is now playing with the Beitar Jerusalem Soccer Club.

The 28-yr-old who played for Western Sydney Wanderers has represented Australia 13 times and participated in the 2010 Australian squad at the FIFA World Cup in South Africa.

Rukavytsya married his childhood sweetheart Vika with whom he shares with a Ukrainian background

Her parents made aliya to Israel and live in Haifa.

Awaiting the birth of their first child, Rukavytsya’s wife expressed her desire to live close to her parents and the opportunity to play for Jerusalem Beitar made that possible.

He has now played two matches for his new club at the weekend away against Sakhnin and the previous week at home against Kfar Saba,where he scored a goal on debut.

Beitar Jerusalem won both games and Rukavytsya is rapidly becoming one of the Jerusalem Beitar’s supporters; favourites.
Between 2007 and 2009, the forward played for Perth Glory and joined Western Sydney Wanderers in 2015 after playing on loan for FSV Frankfurt.

    Not to be confused with playing for the Socceroos. Beitar Jerusalem do not play football, as we know it.
