Touring exhibition “Anne Frank – A History for Today” is now on show at Sovereign Hill’s Gold Museum in Victoria.

AF1-610

The world-renowned exhibition shows the history and sequence of events that unfolded throughout the Second World War, specifically through the eyes of teenage Jewish Holocaust victim Anne Frank, whose account of her two years hiding in an attic in Nazi-occupied Holland has become one of the world’s most widely read and cherished books. Quotations from Anne Frank’s diary and photos of those who hid with her in the annex are threaded together with a chronological timeline that confronts viewers with the events of the Second World War.

The travelling exhibition from the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam has been seen by millions of people around the world and relates Anne’s story as recorded in her famous diary. Her story has become a worldwide symbol for the millions of Jewish victims of the Holocaust and those who are still discriminated against today. It contains a message to modern young people that cultural, religious and political differences between people exist in every society and can lead to discrimination, persecution and violence. It encourages young people to think about concepts such as tolerance and mutual respect, and teaches them about human rights and democracy.
