In his address to the King, Ambassador Livne expressed his wish to further enhance the good relationship between Israel and Tonga which has showcased already by visits from Tongan legislators to Israel and the Israeli Speaker of the Knesset to the Kingdom of Tonga. Ambassador Livne extended an official invitation to the King to visit Israel in the near future.

Ambassador Livne also welcomed Tonga’s recent decision to join the IAEA. The Ambassador stated: “It is one of the main arenas where the struggle to frustrate the aggressive nuclear policies of Iran take place. Israel believes that in order to maintain the integrity of this important agency, it is essential to keep it focused on its mandate and not become an additional scene for Israel bashing initiatives. A few weeks ago, we succeeded in defeating such a move hidden under the title Israel’s nuclear capability. We look forward to working with your delegation to this agency on matters of mutual interest”.

In the two following days Ambassador Livne called upon Tonga’s Deputy Prime Minister and acting Minister of Foreign and Affairs and Trade, Hon. Samiu Vaipulu, the Minster of Health, Lord Tu’iafitu and the CEO for Agriculture, Food, Forrest and Fisheries, Ms. Losaline Ma’asi and spoke with them about specific items on how to further enhance the existing relationship by cooperating in the fields of research and development.

On the final day of his visit, the Ambassador had the honor to present the Minister of Internal Affairs, Lord Vaea and CEO for Internal Affairs, Mr. Lopeti Senituli the first of twenty boxes of soccer equipment with a total value of AUD 20,000, donated by the Reagan Milstein Foundation. The Reagan Milstein Foundation is an Australian based not for profit organization which has been established in the memory of Reagan Milstein who tragically died in July 2010 at the age of just 15.

Earlier, in February 2012 the Reagan Foundation already made a donation of soccer equipment to Tonga worth AUD 31,000.
