ABC Illawarra radio featured NSW Jewish Board of Deputies’ CEO Vic Alhadeff discussing Gaza.

Host Nick Rheinberger played a clip of Sylvia Hale, Greens MP, speaking with Peter Riley about her trip to Gaza. She says she has been imprisoned in Greece.

Rheinberger then spoke with  Alhadeff, who told his listeners that there is a great deal of misinformation about the blockade. Alhadeff added that Israel supplies 25,000 tons of goods to Palestine per week, with foodstuffs and humanitarian aid. Only items which can be used to make weapons are excluded. He also said that Hamas rules Gaza with a brutal regime, where women, gays and all faiths other than Islam are banned.

Rheinberger was told that Israel withdrew from Gaza in 2005, and that Hamas had responded by declaring war on it; hence the blockade. Alhadeff  implores Hamas to stop its war against Israel. He says the militant activists broke the blockade in last year’s flotilla, and were killed while making a symbolic cynical point. Alhadeff agrees it is Hamas who is punishing the people of Gaza with its brutal regime. He says Israel is defending itself with the blockade, and is entitled to, according to international law.

We are indeed fortunate to have someone with Vic’s expertise and reason, to speak on our behalf. Is it possible to find this to listen to on the Web?
