Deputy Foreign Minister Quick emphasised the warm relationship between the Greek and Israeli governments, bolstered by numerous shared goals and increasing economic  and security cooperation between the two countries.

He said the visit reinforced the value that Alexis Tsipras’ government places on good relations with the Jewish community in Greece and around the world.

Greece’s Ambassador to Australia, Ekaterini Xagorari, and Consul General Katerina Duka also took part in the meeting.

Dr. Rubenstein welcomed the visitors saying: “Greece is a good friend of Israel and the Jewish community, and we appreciate the Deputy Foreign Minister’s outreach to the Australian Jewish community, in recognition of  those growing ties and the important roles Greek and Jewish communities have played  in  the evolution of Australia’s vibrant multicultural life.

We look forward to more opportunities to further develop those relationships.
