NSW Shadow Treasurer and NSW Parliamentary Friends of Israel Deputy Chair Walt Secord has warned that the notorious antisemitic LaRouche movement-aligned Citizens Electoral Council of Australia is trying to rebrand itself – as a new political party.

Mr Secord pointed to the official Federal Government public notices published on Wednesday, November 27 where the organisation is beginning the process to formally change its name to the “Australian Citizens Party”.

The Citizens Electoral Council of Australia (CEC) is a political party affiliated with the international LaRouche Movement which was led by the late-American far-right extremist Lyndon LaRouche.  It came to prominence in the 1990s for its bizarre and antisemitic conspiracy theories.

CEC has been described as “far-right”, “fascist” and “lunar right”.

The Australia-Israel Review (AIR) and B’nai B’rith Anti-Defamation Commission have catalogued and documented the group’s activities with AIR highlighting the group’s activities including the recent death of LaRouche in February 2019.

Mr Secord said the CEC is an “extremist and vile”  organisation – and began as an Australian outpost of far-right US activist Lyndon LaRouche’s ideology.

According to AIR, the LaRouche movement claimed that “Adolf Hitler was put into power largely on the initiative of the Rothschilds, Warburgs, and Oppenheimers, among other Jewish and non-Jewish financial interests centred in the City of London”, and also engaged in Holocaust revisionism.

Mr Secord said the re-branding of the notorious Citizen’s Electoral Council of Australia was a “feeble” attempt to hide its antisemitic origins and Holocaust revisionism.

Mr Secord said: “The Australia Israel Review and B’nai B’rith did great work in the late-1990s exposing these people.

This is a vile organisation. You can put lipstick on an antisemitic pig, but it is still an antisemitic pig – and it is still the Citizens Electoral Council.”

The people of New South Wales and Australia should be wary of this crazy outfit’s weak attempt to rebrand.”

The Citizens Electoral Council was first established in Kingaroy, Queensland in 1988.  LaRouche died in February 2019.

The CEC still have a show on TV and I watch some of it last evening. They were raving on about corruption in Australian banks but offered no solutions.

Irrespective of the name change to Citizens Party (which make sense for them at election time) they will still only get a very tiny vote and wont come close to winning a seat in any parliament.

CEC will still get their usual vote about 0.01%
