A 31-year-old Israeli male tourist has died after falling on the Gertrude Saddle Track, near Te Anau in New Zealand.

The man slipped and fell while descending on a steep part of the track.  His wife who was with him at the time raised the alarm on Tuesday night.

A police spokesman told J-Wire:” We were notified around 7pm. and located the man’s body overnight recovering  it early this morning.”

Chabad New Zealand dispatched a New Zealand  member of its organisation who had met the deceased to Te Anau to identify the body.

J-Wire understands the Israeli Embassy in Wellington will organise the repatriation of the deceased’s body to Israel for burial.
