As AILD national patron, Mr Beattie spoke to the audience of 50+ that included trade union officials, many young people, a number of Queensland members of the Australasian Union of Jewish Students, as well as QJBD representatives, Jason Steinberg, Paul Myers and Libby Burke.

Given the Queensland Labor Party conference held earlier this year passed negative resolutions towards Israel, Mr Beattie said he felt it was now more important than ever that the Labor Party were better informed about Israel.

“As Premier of Queensland I admired and looked for ideas, connections and collaborations with Queensland and Israel – the word’s cleverest, most technology innovative country,” he said.

“Which is why the boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) campaign of the anti-Semites on the far left and far right is so disturbing.”

Mr Beattie also talked about the aims of AILD being to promote and foster dialogue and fraternal links between the Australian and Israeli Labor Parties.

The activities of the AILD include: conducting public programs including hosting the flagship Australian Friends of Labor Sam Cohen Memorial Lecture; disseminating relevant information; providing educational resources and links to wider resources, and establishing appropriate social and community programs.

That’s the last straw, goodbye ALP and hello Greens.
Preference will not go to the ALP either.

So the ALP turns around and does something good, and you’re… heading to the Greens? I would actually join the Greens myself, if it wasn’t for how dodgy they are on Israel and antisemitism.
