Bialik at Remembrance Day Ceremony
In a historic first, Melbourne’s Bialik students have placed wooden Magen Davids at the Stone of Remembrance in Canberra.
Bialik’s Year 6 students were the only representatives of Victoria at this year’s Remembrance Day Ceremony. The weather was wet but their spirits were high as they participated in this unique, important experience. We are very proud of our Year 6s, who were praised by the Senior Education Officer at the Australian War Memorial as being “mature, wonderfully respectful and a shining credit to their school”.
Bialik’s Principal, Jeremy Stowe-Lindner, is “immensely proud” of Bialik’s inclusion in the ceremony and said, “We are a pluralist, inclusive Jewish school and we are thrilled that our students had the opportunity to practice these values out in the greater community. We were asked to participate in the ceremony as a result of the enthusiasm and respect our students showed during their last Year 6 camp to Canberra.”
